CCSC Cruisers (Past) » Tides Along the Our Coast

5th February, 7:00pm - 10:00pm

Cruising on the South Coast and the English Channel or as the French say "la manche" requires a clear understanding of tides and tidal streams (it's a channel after all).

We are all taught that tides and tidal streams result from the alignment of the earth, sun and moon, but it's not that simple! Ever wondered why we have small tides around Poole, double or standing tides in the Solent and why tides don't always do what is expected?? You might be surprised at the real answers, rather than the folklore explanations we often get?

This is an opportunity to learn more about our local tides and tidal streams and share experiences of tidal problems, by and with other members.

The bar will be open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start
