Cruise Details
We have changed this cruise to Alderney as due to lock times in St Vaast which would have involved a stop in Cherbourg on route in and out, not allowing for much time exploring St Vaast.
Instead we have organised a visit to the stunning Alderney over the platinum jubilee weekend, avoiding the crowds back home. Normally a delightful 10 hours or so sail from Castle Cove with relatively straight forward navigation. The island boasts stunning scenery, great walks, lots of history and excellent inexpensive restaurants. As it's puffin season, on Friday there is an opportunity to see them up close via a locally sourced kayak guide.
There is no marina on Alderney, we use visitors buoys and there is a water taxi and showers ashore. The harbour is reasonably well protected but is uncomfortable in northerly winds and untenable in N/NW6 or above. Fuel is available around high water in the inner harbour (not Sunday's or Saturday afternoons).
