Sail4All 2024
Published 9:21pm on 21 May 2024
Sail4All (S4A) is back this weekend on Saturday afternoon between 1400-1700.
In accordance with the club programme, S4A is available on selected Saturday afternoons throughout the summer season. The main purpose of S4A is to enable all club members to enjoy what our club has to offer, both on and off the water, on a non-race day. To that end, every session is a "free sail" with safety boat cover and beach-master support, and the bar will be available for relaxation afterwards. Those who wish to participate should make themselves known to the beachmaster (located on the club decking) before they launch. The beachmaster will notify skippers of the safety boat covered sailing area and any special circumstances that might pertain to the session. For those of you who have capitalised on S4A over the past couple of years, there are some small, yet significant differences.
1. Club (rental) dinghies may be booked in advance using the club website.
2. Participants are expected to be able to sail their boats safely in the prevailing conditions. For less experienced sailors, it is possible to contact the club novice coordinator in advance (lesley@ljkresources.co.uk), who may be able to arrange a mentor to help you on the water (subject to volunteer availability).
3. The 'message board' for S4A will be the Sail for All forum look out for posts referring to sail or social activities to do with S4A.
4. The Sailing Committee may potentially organise 'themed activities' during selected the S4A events. Details will be posted on the forum and the club calendar will be amended to show the activity. Note that the free sail will remain in parallel with any other focused event during S4A, although participants will be encouraged to join in.
5. The beachmaster duty is key to the safe conduct of the event. Details are available in the club duties section of the website.
Summer is here at last, come and enjoy the sailing!!
