Thanks to the unwavering support of the brilliant teams at CCSC, including Ladies Sailing, Sail 4 All, and Chesil Sailability, Lynne Swan took on the exciting challenge of competing within the Sailability racing circuit.
With her husband Stuart stepping in as crew and coach his Waszp sailing on hold for the season Lynne was ready to tackle a series of competitive events in the 303 two-handed dinghy. Together, they participated in six UK Traveller events, ultimately clinching the series title in October.
Their success continued into June at the UK National Championships for the 303 two-handed class, where, after three days of intense racing, Lynne and Stuart emerged victorious, securing 1st place.
In August, they competed in the Skud 18 National Championship, held at Rutland Water. Despite the modest six-boat fleet, the racing was thrilling and closely contested, culminating in another 1st place finish for the pair in this ex-Olympic class.
September saw an exciting new challenge: the 303 European Championships in Sneek, Netherlands. This was Lynne's first experience racing in a larger fleet, with competitors hailing from 11 countries, including Brazil and Singapore. In tricky conditions, a mid-fleet finish was a commendable achievement and a valuable learning experience.
The year concluded in spectacular fashion with a trip to Monaco in December for the 303 Doubles Regatta. Racing in the Mediterranean's challenging big seas, Lynne and Stuart faced fierce competition from a fleet of 56 boats. Their remarkable performance earned them a 3rd place overall a fantastic way to end a stellar year.
None of this would have been possible without the outstanding support of CCSC, making 2024 a truly unforgettable year in Lynne's sailing journey.
