Simon's K1 Success

Simon Hawkes, a seasoned sailor from Castle Cove Sailing Club, claimed victory at the 2024 K1 Inland National Championships held at Carsington Sailing Club on 1718 May. Despite light and variable winds, the 24-strong fleet completed multiple races, with Hawkes showcasing exceptional skill and consistency throughout the weekend.

Ahead of the event, Hawkes led a well-received training session, sharing valuable insights with fellow competitors. On the water, he demonstrated tactical brilliance, adapting expertly to shifting wind patterns and securing multiple race wins.

With multiple top finishes and a calm approach in challenging conditions, Simon Hawkes emerged as the deserved K1 Inland National Champion. His win also highlighted the strength of Castle Cove Sailing Club, underlining its reputation in the UK dinghy racing scene.
