Following a highly successful event partnered with the WPNSA, Castle Cove Sailing Club congratulates Joe Cross and his crew on their victory in the 2025 Sonata National Championship aboard Duette. A healthy fleet of 26 boats, including 12 from CCSC including a Cadet Team sailing "Third Movement", competed in a four-day championship that saw racing inside Portland Harbour and in Weymouth Bay.

The championship delivered a dynamic range of conditions, from light winds 'T-shirt weather' to a wild final day with winds up to 38 knots, which tested the mettle of all competitors. The racing was exceptionally tight, with four different boats winning individual races. The final results highlighted the close competition, with Eric The Boat (Chris Robinson), Frankie The Rhino (Tony Woods), and Aquila (Nick Holt) taking second, third, and fourth respectively. The CCSC Cadet Team on "Third Movement" sailed a great series, securing an impressive 11th place finish.

The club earned high praise for its impeccable race management, expertly navigating the challenging conditions. The event was also a social success, with fantastic hospitality, great food, and superb entertainment appreciated by all entrants. The encouraging presence of Youth and Under 25 teams promises a vibrant future for the Sonata class.
