Final day results for the 2024 Noble Marine UK Musto Skiff National Championship at Filey Sailing ClubIt was an early start for the fleet on the final day of the UK Nationals with the first race starting at 10.30am. With around 6 knots of wind to kick things off, it was set to be another challenging day ahead!
Race 5 of the Championship got away clean, but with the race starting bang on 10.30am, a few stragglers failed to get to the start line in time and had some catching up to do! Euan Hurter took the win for race 5, followed by Sam Pascoe in 2nd, and Mike Matthews in 3rd. By race 6, the breeze had increased to 8 knots, but it was still very shifty coming off the land. Leading the pack for race 6 was Sam Pascoe who finished in 1st, followed by Bill Maughan in 2nd, and Sam Barker in 3rd.The Race Officer had planned for 4 races today, but race 7 turned out to be the final race of the Championship, with a heavy downpour half-way through racing bringing a big increase in pressure for a few minutes, before dropping right off and killing the breeze.
However, Sam Pascoe, ever consistent and impressive, held on to the lead and crossed the finish line first, giving him the overall win and the 2024 UK National Champion Title! Coming in behind Pascoe was Sam Barker, followed by Rob Richardson.
By the close of the Championship, it was a very close top-10 with some countbacks to determine the final positions and several places shifting across the fleet after another day racing in very challenging wind conditions. A huge congratulations to Sam Pascoe for the overall Championship win! Joining Sam on the podium was Sam Barker in 2nd overall, and Rob Richardson in 3rd overall.Here is the overall top 10 and category winners for 2024:Top 10
