Musto 2026 iQFOiL World Championships
I wanted to take the opportunity to reach out to the committee and members of Castle Cove Sailing Club to thank you for allowing us the use of 'Imogen' and for your members time to help us deliver a truly outstanding championships.
The week certainly presented the full range of conditions from the light wind slalom racing to the full on champagne sailing conditions we were gifted on Tuesday, presenting challenge for both athletes and race teams in equal measure.
The waters of Weymouth & Portland has a strong reputation for delivering well organized, world class events and I am delighted that that reputation was only enhanced by this event. The support of Castle Cove Sailing Club in allowing the event to use 'Imogen' and the support of your members who volunteered their time to skipper 'Imogen' or in various other roles was vital in delivering a successful event.
Hosting major events in the UK, not just allows us to demonstrate our skills at hosting world class events but provides us with a platform to enhance many opportunities. Whether that be the ability to stretch and challenge our race officials in their development; the chance to lead social impact programmes, such as Elevate, to introduce a new generation of youngsters to the opportunities of being on the water; or the ability to showcase our sport to the public through the press coverage and fan engagement activity we were able to deliver at Weymouth Pavillion on Saturday.
I'm sure you will all have your own highlights from the week, my particular highlight was seeing the Weymouth Quayside packed with onlookers as our finalists came ashore and prepared for the medal ceremony.
I hope that through the continued delivery of major events we can continue to inspire new generations of sailors who can have the ability to experience the benefits of being on the water that we all love through clubs such as Castle Cove.
