Jeremy's Transatlantic Race

Club member Jeremy Dobbs is competing in the 2023 RORC Transatlantic Race. The race started from Marina Lanzarote on Sunday 8th of January at 14.10 for the 3,000-mile race across the Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean spice island of Grenada.
More than 20 race boats from seven different nations are participating, including six Maxis and three of the world's fastest ocean-going multihulls. Jeremy is crewing on BENETEAU FIRST 47.7 EH01 a slight contrast to crewing for Pete Barfoot on his Laser 2000!

Jeremy's comments in the introduction to his blog 'Lockdown for me, two years ago, shaped ideas of sailing the Southern Ocean with Clipper, having barely set foot in a boat before. Two years later, and with thanks to skippers' Pete, Kathy and two Pauls for their patience and teaching, I am crewing a 47ft yacht EH01 to Grenada instead. I have crewed along the English South Coast and helmed at night in a storm in the Bay of Biscay so, perhaps, I have some idea of the adventure ahead - or maybe I don't?
This first-time-for-me blog is for my family, friends, fellow sailors and intrigued patients.

Beyond the Atlantic is volunteering for me in Nepal and then climbing 6500m Mera Peak in March/April.
Welcome aboard!
