Channel Crossing | 17-20 September 2021

For our final trip of the season we decided to head over to Alderny again, to avoid the expensive testing needed to return to UK after being in France.

Flowers Sadly Boni & Arabis called off sick shortly before the cruise started, so Seraphim motor sailed alone from Weymouth on the Friday and Jenny Wren made for Braye from St Peters Port. On Friday night Seraphim was placed in the quarantine area, so had a lovely dinner aboard and Mike took a plunge in the lovely clear waters and cleaned his prop. Jenny Wren headed Braye for dinner to try Cantina No 6, which Bob from Boni has tried to book on the last trip. The food was excellent but we could see why he might not have succeeded in getting a table previously as it was very cosy, not a great deal of room for a large bunch of sailors.

Group On the Saturday morning Jenny Wren headed out for a long walk, whilst Seraphim cleared in then we all met for lunch and had a good catch up. In the afternoon, Shaun, Seraphim's crew explored the island whilst the others relaxed on their boat and prepared for dinner, which was held on Saraphim. Seraphim prepared the main course with Jenny Wren doing desert. After lots of chin wagging, planning for the cruising winter events and discussing next summer's cruising we all turned in for an early start for Weymouth on Sunday.

We had a nice sail back, with some interested shifts in winds trying to send us back to France, if only it wasn't time to head home.

A short but interesting and enjoyable cruise to round off the sailing season.
