North Brittany | 9 - 24 July 2022

Seraphim & Pheonix had an easy run down to Braye, a quiet night there, then a gentle sail to St Peter Port and a couple of days in Victoria Marina. Leaving Pheonix to change Moorings crew, Seraphim had a motor sail down to Saint Quay Pontriuex to clear in to France, all done easily with an email to the port with PAF form attached, then a stamped one received by return email. Seraphim then joined Karma, who had arrived earlier via Cherbourg, had a great dinner and enjoyed the Bastille Day fireworks. Karma went east to St Helier and onward to Cherbourg. Seraphim went west to Treguier with an exciting sail through heavy overfalls off Isle de Brehat due to corner cutting by the skipper on a heavy spring tide! Not advised. Treguier was as attractive as ever and Seraphim enjoyed a second set of Bastille Day fireworks! Sadly, many shops had closed down after covid but the crew's favourite restaurant had survived. Unfortunately the mate had developed a nasty head cold which laid her low for a couple of days but with the highly trained crew, Christine, Seraphim was sailed to Paimpol which was not available on the way west as it was hosting a 40 classic boat race from Dartmouth and had no space. Seraphim sailed back to Saint Quay Pontrieux to stamp out, had a great sail to St Peter Port and on to Beaucette Marina. The restaurant there is worth the trip on its own. Des and Jenny had come out to Phoenix to join Alan, swapping with Joy and Tony for a week, enjoying the delights of Guernsey and Herm, then teamed up with Seraphim for the trip home via Alderney. The leg to Portland was easy, a mixture of motoring and decent sailing after a rolly night in Braye.

So, all in all a great cruise with decent weather which allowed all crews to go where and when they wanted to. Perfect.
